Ever wanted a tablet that was also a computer and costed less than $200? Well this project is probably what you’re looking for, it’s essentially the same as an iPad but it uses the Raspberry Pi as it’s processor. This allows you to change how it works unlike the iPad which only allows limited modification. iPads tend to be rather expensive these days, especially the newer models so DIY isn’t a bad idea for those that have a lower budget.
So how do you do it? Well we’ll be using a 7″ capacitive multitouch display, an Adafruit PowerBoost 1000C and a 2500mAh battery. Taking portability, ease of transport and weight into account we’ll be wanting a light, compact and large screen device that has all the functions of a traditional iPad if not more. The bulk of the work would be done by your Raspberry Pi but we still need to put the parts together. Here is a demonstration of how it works:
